Usher, You’re Doing It Wrong

When considering the alternatives, the question I would pose to Usher and anyone else is, "How can you afford not to be vegan?"

I came across “Usher found being a vegan too pricey” this weekend. Let’s ignore for a second the never ending debate about “eating vegan” and “being vegan” and focus on the poor man’s plight:

Referring to the private chef he had travel with him on tour, he said: “That was opulent as hell. It was just difficult to find people who can make vegan food taste great.”

If only we could all be in the fortunate position to be able to afford a private chef. Don’t get me wrong – I’m lazy and I would love to have someone cook for me. However, I don’t live in fantasy land, and I’ve been vegan for almost five years. I assure you, I have eaten vegan food that tastes great, and I don’t think one morsel has been what I’d consider “opulent.” I’m a single gal who now supports a family of three (two human, one canine). I can afford to eat vegan. And really, when considering the alternatives, the question I would pose to one Usher Raymond and anyone else is, “How can you afford not to be vegan?”

If the mistreatment and eventual deaths of billions of animals, the devastation of the planet, and the epidemic health problems that run rampant aren’t costly enough for any of you, I don’t know what to tell you. But when a multi-millionaire tries to claim that eating vegan is too expensive, we are really dealing with a cognitive dissonance that is normal in today’s world.
