D.C. VegFestGet ready DC! The D.C. VegFest is this Saturday and it looks to be packed full of fun.  And, the outdoor festival celebration of the veg lifestyle is free! Could it get any better than that?

What is there to do at the VegFest you ask?  Well, there are seven (that’s right, seven, count ‘em!) different speakers lined up for the event – ranging from Rory Freeman (author of Skinny Bitch) to Kenneth Williams (a vegan bodybuilder), and more in-between.  There will be cooking demonstrations by vegan chefs,  nine different food vendors (that you can actually eat at – finally!), eleven different commercial vendors, and more non-profit organizations that you can shake a stick at (not that you would want to!).  It’s a packed day, but one that you’ll enjoy for sure.

And, if all of that wasn’t enough to get your ass there, the first 400 people who come to the DC VegFest Info booth will receive a free (free!) 2009 DC VegFest bag filled with goodies.  A free bag filled with goodies!  You know, stuff like Lara Bars, Pirate’s Booty, Follow Your Heart, Vega and much, much more!

We should tell you that if you want one of those bags, and you know that you do, be sure to get there on time.  The bags are on a “first come, first serve” basis.  But if you miss out on the free bag, no worries, there will be extras on hand to sell (complete with goodies – whoop whoop!) for just $2!

So go and have some serious veg fun!

Chef Mayra

Chef Mayra Productions is bringing you the flavor of the Caribbean to Studio West at The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas on August 21, 2009.  The Caribbean themed evening will feature a four-course vegan dinner and dessert, live music and steel drums, a vintage clothing display and a cash bar featuring vegan libations.

Sounds like fun!

Tickets are available for $75.00 per person at various locations including The Arts Factory, Rainbow’s End, The Spirit Within U, Sunrise Coffee and on Chef Mayra’s website, http://www.chefmayra.com.  Chef Mayra is known for distinctive flavors and is also referred to as “Dr. Flavor”.  She is also a member of Women Chefs and Restaurants and the Personal Chef Association.

But we like her because she is a compassionate chef!  She had this to say of the event:

“This will be a fun, vegan, Caribbean full-of-energy party,” said Chef Mayra. “My food will seduce you with its explosive flavor and unique delivery. Once you taste my food, you will never settle for bland again; and it is all healthy.”

Yes, healthy and compassionate.  Just like we like it!
