PETA wastes time and money (again)

The animal rights organization would bring in manure (3,500 1 gallon tubs apparently) and pig urine and spread it all over the steps of the Statehouse.

What's in this post

PETA wants to turn the Ohio Statehouse steps into a Pig Farm for a day.  The animal rights organization would bring in manure (3,500 1 gallon tubs apparently) and pig urine and spread it all over the steps of the Statehouse.  Then, the ever clever PETA folks, would bring in large fans to have the odor wafting throughout the area to “give Ohioans the firsthand experience of a factory farm.”

Sigh.

And, in a confusing move, they would also bring in 3 live pigs in crates to add to the “demonstration”.  Here’s what confuses me.  PETA is against factory farming right?  So tell me why they would “use” live animals (see: 3 live pigs in crates) at all?  Those animals will be outside in the very crates that PETA is against.  They would be frightened and confused.  And, because everyone knows that PETA pull all of their stunts under the mantra “it’ll be good for press”, there will be camera crews from local news stations.  Adding more confusion and stress on the live “objects” (see: 3 live pigs in crates) they are using for their demonstration.  Apparently, the message here is that it is okay to let PETA use the animals to teach the rest of us that it is wrong to use animals.

Here’s a thought. Show your movies of undercover factory farm madness.  Pass out literature.  Talk to people.  Just please, PETA, just stop.  Stop giving us animal activists out here (who uses respect, intelligence and education to promote our ideas instead of outrageous-ness that few respect) the “crazy” name.  It’s a waste of everyone’s time and your money.

Thank you for your comment. The radio clip (link provided in the post) is an interview with a PETA spokeswoman. While I can appreciate the “behind the scenes” activism that PETA does, I do not agree that using live animals during a demonstration is appropriate. But, if people in costumes were used, well that would be a different thing entirely wouldn’t it?

Here’s a thought. Why not call PETA and ask them if they are using live pigs or people in pig costumes before writing such a scathing article against them. In my experience, when PETA says it is going to have animals at a demonstration, they usually end up being people in animal costumes.

while some of their campaigns are OK others make me shake my head. I don’t like how they got in bed with Murder King, just cuz they sell a veggie burger. Yet most people think PETA is extreme and radical. Which they are so not. They’re mostly fluff and naked babes.

Some of the things Peta does, are quite.. doubtful to say at least.

Yet, their basic message seems right to me.

I think they do what they have to do. I don´t agree with taking live pigs either..but maybe thats not even true.

I personally love what PETA does…it was thanks to them that i became a vegetarian and its thanks to them i am still motivated to be one for the rest of my life.:)

thanks for this page! i love it!
