The F.U. Fork

Recently I came across something that is too awesome not to share.

What's in this post

I came across something that is too awesome not to share.  Behold, the F.U. Fork:

FUFork

It’s a thing of beauty, is it not?  I found this gem at Devilstrip Dollys, an “Anti-Gallery” located in Akron, Ohio.  This anti-gallery is filled with unique and one-of-a-kind art pieces made by local artisans- all a little weird, all over-the-top awesome.  The F.U. Fork is a vintage polished silver fork with it’s tines artistically arranged in a not-so-subtle message.  I am in love with this fork.

And, just to be clear, I did not name the F.U. Fork- the artist who made it did.  I just appreciate it ;)

My first thought upon seeing the fork was how the fork really represents my personal rebuttal to the propaganda that’s fed to all of us by big agribusinesses.  I knew immediately that I wanted to use it somehow on YDV, I just didn’t know when or how.

Then I came across this article, 11 signs your vegan diet may have gotten out of control, from Plant Strong Diva Chicago.  It’s another one of those articles that “pokes fun” at vegans (read: mocks) for trying to make the world a better place and is generally filled with nonsense.  It’s not the first of these articles I’ve read and I’m sure it won’t be the last.  It’s one small part of a the larger problem of misinformation/misconceptions about veganism in mainstream society.

Anyway, the article- is it F.U. Fork worthy?  Maybe my new F.U. Fork should serve as the visual part of my rebuttal to articles that….well….deserve the type of response only a F.U. Fork can give.  Maybe.

Do you have some thoughts/ideas for my new F.U. Fork?  I’d love to hear them.  Tell me in the comments.  Let’s talk.

Rest assured that veganism in every definition of the word is growing daily. I was an ardent “omnivore” a mere 4 years ago and because of my charms, and the sheer logic of loving animals and our planet, many of my friends are vegan of some kind as well.

They will always make fun of us but “us” are amassing some pretty humorous individuals. Yourself included.

    Love the fork.

Nic, Thanks for the comment! I love that I’m included in “pretty funny individuals”. Sometimes life is so absurd, one just needs to laugh it off. Here’s to veganism growing daily! :)

I would suggest getting one and bringing it with you for social gatherings that involve other people eating animals. Perfect for this time of year with all the barbecues people have. “Care for a hot dog?” take a big bite of salad with your F.U. fork. “No thanks!”

Amy, that’s funny! I did have a vegan barbecue at my house recently where I brought it out but it didn’t have the same impact as it would have if it had been mixed company. Perhaps next time! :)
