Ugh, I was wrong. To me it didn't taste like tuna but worse than that it was just so flavorless.

So, I think I mentioned that I ordered a bunch of things from Pangea that I’ve never tried but wanted to review for ya’ll.  See the things I do for you?  It’s the love that I have for ya’ll.  Do you feel it?

Well, this is one of the things I ordered.  It’s called Tuna (NOT) Salad Mix and it’s supposed to be mock tuna fish.

Tuna (Not) Salad Mix

Listen, I used to eat tuna out of the can when I was a carni so I thought that this might be good.  Ugh, I was wrong.  To me it didn’t taste like tuna but worse than that it was just so flavorless.  I made mine with vegenaisse, relish, onions, garlic, salt and pepper – I tossed it in a toasted pita with sprouts and served with chips.  It was my attempt at tuna salad.  I didn’t care for it much.  I couldn’t even finish more than half of a pita pocket and I probably won’t be ordering this again.

Here’s what my lunch looked like:

Mock Tuna Salad Pita w/chips

Goatz Rating 1Tuna (Not) Salad Mix gets a measly “1 Goat” and only because it contained a decent amount of protein.  The taste was…well, ew.

It’s so darn easy to make untuna salad using either tofu or garbanzo beans. Why buy something processed, that doesn’t even taste good?

I generally stay away from anything mock that is trying to be the real thing. It rarely is what it promises. Like mock hotdogs, never had one I liked. I’d rather just eat food that tastes great without trying to be something else. And it’s not like I miss the taste of all the food I gave up when there’s all these wonderful new vegan dishes to explore.

Aw, don’t you hate when you try a new product and it’s just a disappointment? :(

Thanks for the head’s up, though!
