I have been Tempt(ed) and it was GOOD

Ohmygosh this stuff is good! I got to taste a spoonful of the vanilla bean. It was so silky, so creamy and so vanilla-y. It was perfect.

What's in this post

When I was little, my family and I would drive out to the middle of nowhere to get some homemade ice cream.  At the time I thought it was the best ice cream in the world.  The whole. wide. world.  These days I rarely think about ice cream and the only time I do is during summer.  Something about going to get ice cream, to me, screams summer.  I don’t miss the dairy dessert any, but I do miss walking, biking, or hiking and then stopping off for a cold treat.

And then I found this yesterday:

I’m going to be honest here.  I only saw this because there were huge signs all over the freezer door saying that it was on sale.  Buy one and get one free.  Now, I don’t really get non-dairy frozen desserts often because truthfully, I’d rather eat a cookie or cupcake.  (mmm…cupcakes)  But I have another hungry vegan living here that loves non-dairy frozen desserts.  And BOGO?  Who can resist trying two flavors of frozen hempmilk desserts?  So I bought the vanilla bean and picked out coconut lime for the free pint.

Ohmygosh this stuff is good!  I got to taste a spoonful of the vanilla bean.  It was so silky, so creamy and so vanilla-y.  It was perfect.  It’s different than other frozen non-dairy creams that I’ve had.  The hempmilk seems to make it more creamy and milky tasting, which I love.  It has a taste very similar to that of real dairy ice cream without the nasty dairy after coating in your mouth.  The only aftertaste you get with this is a lovely cool vanilla taste.  It’s simple and perfect.

So…you know I had to make me a bowl of that!  I took a banana, shredded coconut, pecan halves and a serving of vanilla bean tempt with a bit of agave on top.  Look how pretty:

Yum

Because it was there, tried a spoonful of the coconut lime.  I was speechless on how good it is.  It has  a strong, not overpowering, flavor of coconut with the perfect amount of lime.  I can see this dessert going perfect after a spicy meal and served with a cup of coffee.

You know, I feel good about eating Tempt because it’s made from hempmilk.  Hempmilk is made from hemp seeds, a tiny nutritional powerhouse.  Hemp seeds contain all ten essential amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein.  They are also rich in omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, which is almost 3x (three times) the amount in some soymilks and more than double the amount of omega-6’s.  Hemp is also high in iron, potassium, magnesium, fiber, phytonutrients, plus natural antioxidants.  That is one serious seed!

And the ye old protein question?  Hemp seeds help us vegans out there too.  Hemp seeds are easily digestible and are the highest vegan source of the simple protein edestin (at 65% of the seed is edestin), which is required for proper immune system function.  Added to that are 15 additional essential vitamins and minerals, making hemp seeds even more awesome.

So I highly recommend trying out some Tempt for yourself.  It’s pretty damn yummy and a better choice for a healthier type of treat.  Well, if you can stick to a serving size per snack, that is.  I, uh, I….I did say if.  ::Sheepish grin::  Hey, someone had to test it to make sure it was good….right?
