Three words: Pumpkin. Coffee. Giveaway.

What's in this post

YDV Coffee Bean Giveaway

This may surprise you, but I’m not always a fan of coffee.  Sometimes I ignore the tantalizing smell of a freshly roasted coffee bean and reach for freshly juiced fruits and vegetables instead.  But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a love of the tiny greasy little bean, I do.  I love the way a coffee house smells, the way coffee enhances the taste of chocolate, the way the beans sound as they whirl around my little grinder, and- my favorite of course, the way that they taste when properly brewed.  Still, I wouldn’t label me as an everyday coffee drinker or even a regular coffee drinker.  Or at least I wasn’t, until I stumbled upon Berardi’s Pumpkin Coffee at my local health food store.

The coffee was displayed at the endcaps of the register lines, I couldn’t have missed it if I wanted to.  But even with the prominently displayed rows of coffee, it was the smell that grabbed me first.  I smelled the coffee and looked around to find it.  It smells rich, warm, autumn-y, pumpkin-y, spicy, and sweet all at once.  I had to have some, so I grabbed a bag.  One wishes that I would have looked a bit closer to what I was grabbing however, my dumb ass grabbed decaf.  Decaf coffee.  What the hell is that?  It’s like the beer with no alcohol.  Why?

Anyway, the cashier told me that they had just got that coffee in fresh that morning.  I just smiled at her thinking, don’t they always say that? But then I drank the decaf and marveled at how good this coffee really is.  I drink my coffee black and this coffee lends itself well to that- the flavor really shines through.  That said, I can totally picture this coffee turned into a latte, or mixed with rum and brown sugar- oh the possibilities.  I went back to the store last night and they had a new flavor: pumpkin brulee.  Let me say that again, pumpkin brulee.  Jealous?

Fear not!  I decided right there and then that someone, someone who reads YDV, should experience this coffee too.  So I bought one of you an 8 oz. bag of freshly roasted pumpkin coffee beans.  This means that you’ll need a coffee bean grinder if you want to brew the coffee.  Still- fresh! pumpkin! coffee!  YAY!

Oh I forgot to mention, I’ve always been told that you can tell it’s “good” coffee by how greasy the beans are.  Now, I don’t know if that’s a bunch of crap or not- I’m no expert.  But if you are, or if you heard that too and wanted to see an up close shot of the beans, I gotcha covered.  Plus, look how pretty the birdy is…

I like it any time, any temperature, any place… My senses perked right up when I read this, my heart went a flitter and my mouth can almost taste it already, My mind is racing to concoct the best match for these beans… I’m thinken Pumpkin latte with almond milk to embrace the richness of the bean itself sitten next to a warm cozy fire… Bring it on! Please

If I were to win this yummy pumpkin coffee, I would 1) drink it in the morning with some So Delicious Hazelnut coconut creamer, 2) brew it as an espresso to make vegan pumpkin tiramisu (something I have been dreaming about), and 3) I plan to make a blended coffee drink with Purely Decadent coconut ice cream for a nice after dinner treat. :)

Thanks so much for this giveaway! I have some fresh Honduran nutmegs that I would grate over the whipped cream on my pumpkin spice latte. Sounds awesome!

I’d brew this pumpkin coffee and then stir in some So Delicious Coconut Milk Hazelnut Creamer. It might sound like an odd combination but I’ve had the hazelnut in local gas-station-brand pumpkin spice coffee and it was perfect together!

Also, I tweeted about this (@thevegankitchen).

So you’ll just have to have a cup and think of my while you enjoy it.

Retweeted as well! Let me see, I get so creative when it comes to coffee. I would add some cinnamon to the grinder as the beans blend and then add coconut milk to the finished product and maybe a bit of agave. YUM!

I drink coffee black, so to be honest (and I swear I’m not saying this for lack of creativity), I would just drink it black. I tried a pumpkin coffee last year from a local place that was incredible. Before that, I’d only ever had pumpkin lattes at Starbucks, but they just add pumpkin flavoring. This coffee has the taste IN THE COFFEE and it’s GLORIOUS.
