I didn’t know who Neko Case was until I read this article about her. Apparently she has a rock band and a website, neckkocase.com.
She recently spoke with Spinner and had this to say about our animal friends:
On tour I spend a lot of time in hotels. I always watch TV on the treadmill, and so many times, there’d be some horrible animal disaster – somebody being mauled to death by a tiger or an elephant that rampaged. Those stories are so depressing, and the animal is always the one who gets murdered at the end. I don’t know why people act so shocked. You got in the cage with the tiger, you were harassing it, and then it f***ing killed you. It’s a f***ing tiger. What the f*** were you thinking?
Seriously, I agree.
She goes on to talk about the Michael Vick dogs:
“Best Friends took the Michael Vick dogs. That’s a big deal because a lot of supposed animal welfare organizations like PETA – who can blow me – said you should euthanize the dogs immediately. But it’s not the dogs’ fault that they were fighting dogs. Pit bulls are muscular and big, but they’re not man-eaters.”
Now here is the part that I like:
Every time someone posts a link to her song ‘People got a lot of Nerve‘, her record label will donate $5 to Best Friends Animal Society.
That is a lot of money, folks. Especially when you consider that Best Friends Animal Society provides unlimited vet care to the animals that they rescue.
This donation drive ends on February 3, 2009, so go! Now! Download! And link to the song.
