Hermes kills animals for “cold-blooded vanity”

It takes three or four animals to make a HANDBAG. Large, overpriced handbags at that.
What's in this post
In a recent article, the chief executive for the “luxury” brand Hermes said, “It can take three to four crocodiles to make one of our bags so we are now BREEDING OUR OWN crocodiles on our own farms…”. (the emphasis is my own)
It takes three or four animals to make a HANDBAG. Large, overpriced handbags at that. In retrospect, the $40,000 price tag for these bags is small compared to the environmental destruction and loss of life.
The ironic part is that this executive guy went on to talk about how “The world is not full of crocodiles…”. Of course not ass, the humans are killing them, 3 or 4 at a time, to make a HANDBAG.
And of course PETA has something to say about it. PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews said:
“The thought of purposely breeding and killing crocodiles for an outdated, overpriced handbag should make any fashionista’s skin crawl. If Hermes really wants to be a leader in the fashion industry, it should stop killing animals for cold-blooded vanity and use cruelty-free mock croc and fake snake instead. As Pink—who recently provided the voice of a computer-generated crocodile in PETA’s “Stolen for Fashion” commercial—says, “Killing animals for their skins is so disgusting that it doesn’t make me want to befriend designers who use them.””
I’m completely disgusted. There are amazing faux fabrics to mimic crocodile or any animal product for that matter. Want a faux fur? Try www.prefurs.com for guilt free awesome-ness. And as for Hermes… I hope that enough attention will be drawn to this to wake up those awful people purchasing those bags. Yes, Posh Spice person, I am talking to you.
What do you think about a Wildaid’s ambassador is a VIP of Hermes? She bought a bunch of Hermes’ bags!! I can’t stand a hyprocrite as an ambassador for the welfare of those poor animals just for fame!
