Our environment is in serious trouble. We are in the midst of terrible ecological devastation. Raising animals for food is the single greatest human-caused source of destruction to our environment. It is the largest source of greenhouse gases, land use and degradation; the number one source of water pollution and rainforest deforestation. It’s also a major contributor to air pollution, ocean dead zones, habitat loss, and species extinction. And when we include all the resources that go into raising animals for food – the land, fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides, fossil fuels and freshwater – animal agribusiness is shockingly inefficient and a costly and wasteful use of our limited natural resources. Veganism is the solution.
I created this infographic to help spread awareness about the connections between our environment and the food we eat. For a thoroughly researched and more in-depth look at these connections please visit the resource, Veganism & The Environment.

This is such a great graphic! It’s so awesome to have this information so concisely assembled so I can refer to it the next time I’m having a conversation with someone about this topic. Animal rights made me vegan but environmental concerns are something I have grown equally (or more) passionate about since then, so having something like this to use as a quick reference guide is great! I also really appreciate that you included a comprehensive list of your sources. That’s very important! Thanks for the great work…I’ll definitely be referring to this for some fast facts the next time someone asks me why I’m vegan:)
Hey Casper! Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate that. I am really glad that the information will help you advocate a strong vegan position- that was/is always my goal :) Did you happen to check out the full Environment & Veganism guide by chance? I think you’ll find it useful. I’m a stickler for well-sourced information and I’m tickled you mentioned it!
