Maybe by now you've noticed that we've been absent since last week. At least, I hope that you've noticed! Well there is a good reason for that and I want to fill ya'll in.

Maybe by now you’ve noticed that we’ve been absent since last week.  At least, I hope that you’ve noticed! Well there is a good reason for that and I want to fill ya’ll in.

Remember how I told everyone that I had an unfullfilling day job?  And that job kept me away most of the day and so I could only be here at night?  Right.  Okay….well….the day job and I broke up.  I am what you would call unemployed.  For the first time in 9 years.

And, like in most breakups, one person does the breaking up and in this case I was broken up with.  Which, quite frankly, has never happened to me before.  So, here I am without a job and no healthcare.  I know, scary right?

What this all means is that I had to take some time to figure out where I am going and what I am going to be doing.  And I mostly have.  What this means for you is that I’ll be on a more regular posting schedule and so you’ll get more vegan goodness.  What this also means is that I will finally be able to take the dogs trail running in the mornings.  I think it’s a win win for everyone!

Okay, you’re filled in as much as I’m going to say about this.  While I was away I’ve done some amazing things which I’ll be posting about later.  From my dinner with Ingrid Newkirk (pictures!) to finding new vegan blogs (links!) we have much to share.  So thanks for your patience while we were gone and the lovely comments ya’ll left for me on Twitter.  It has helped make a strangely disappointing situation much better and I appreciate it!

Yes, there *are* always upsides to getting laid off, but it’s pretty hard to see it at the time. I really admire your positivity and courage in the face of this…you rock! And I am soooo looking forward to visiting with you daily. Keep up the excellent work! :)

Oh best of luck to you. I broke up with my job + benefits in February and have never been happier! I am working for next to nothing for an animal advocacy nonprofit and have been writing more and loving life.

I am new to this blog but will say – first layoffs are the most difficult but something better always seems to happen as a result. I am much happier now (after two layoffs)
