I won in more ways than one!

My wish is to give animals the ability to speak human.

What's in this post

How perfectly lovely!  I was selected as a winner in a wish contest at Vegan Hope.  Vegan Hope has been mentioned here on Your Daily Vegan before but it’s totally worth another read.  Natala’s story of evolution to becoming vegan is inspiring, heart warming and so eloquently written.  I feel that way about her whole blog.  Natala strives to help people.  She offers advice and support to new vegans or people who aren’t vegan but wants to become vegan.  I think her journey into veganism has helped her be a great advocate for people with questions, because she has been there herself and really understands how she got where she is.

Anyway, she had a post yesterday asking what your wish would be if you could wish anything at all.  She made it into a contest and the winner would receive an awesome handmade Vegan Hope Bracelet (you can read about them – with links to artist page – here).

Well, I have a wish.  It’s the same one I always wish for:

My wish is to give animals the ability to speak human.  That way they could express their feelings on the way that they are treated by humans.  The factory farmers would hear the weeping from mothers as their babies are stolen away, the fear of the animals about to go to slaughter, or the despair of the animals realizing what will become of them.  My wish isn’t a cheery one but would give a voice to the voiceless.  Plus, I would love to hear what my companion animals have to say to me.

And I won the contest.  But, I won much more than that.

When Natala posted the winner she also made mention of Your Daily Vegan. I really want my site to connect vegans (and hopefuls) and have tons of great vegan stuff – all in one place.  So, I am grateful for her kind mention about the site.

You know, being an animal activist is not an easy job.  It’s a worthwhile job, don’t get me wrong.  But it is also emotionally taxing.  I’ve found that networking with other vegans and animal activists always helps me deal with the heartache that comes with animal activism.  And I think Natala would make a great vegan supporter should I ever need one.  So I won an awesome bracelet and a great mention of YDV by a great gal.  How lovely!

PS:  I picked this one.  Isn’t it pretty?
