The Onion brings us a new gem. This time the spoof uses gymnast Shawn Johnson to show the insanity with killing a racing horse after it has been injured.  Of course, since the video talks about euthanizing Shawn after an injury, the video is under scrutiny for being “rude” and “over the top”.  I’m betting the racing horses feel the same way when they hear/witness or receive the same treatment.

But we’ll put it up to you.  What do you think?  Does the video go too far or does it bring a vicious practice to light?  Tell us in the comments!

Brilliant. I think this video is subtle and inoffensive, allowing the average person time and space to digest the underlying message. If it makes just one person think twice about dubious, but culturally acceptable, practices then it has succeeded where many have failed.
