2009 Vegan Care Package Giveaway

This year, Your Daily Vegan took part in the 2009 Vegan Care Package Giveaway.  What’s that?  You’ve never heard about it?  Well!  It’s the brainchild of Lindsay who runs Cooking for a Vegan’s Lover Blog and it’s full of awesome.  Here’s how it works.  A bunch of friendly blogger-type folks agree to be put in the mix to do an exchange of vegan goodness.  Oh, and you have to agree to blog about it.

Since I like presents so much, I signed right up.  And last week I received Neil’s 2009 Vegan Care Package.  Neil guest writes on Cooking for a Vegan’s Lover Blog.  Check out my goodies:

Man oh man, I got some goods.  There’s a bunch of different Prana bars, which I love.  When times get hectic, a raw bar and a juice does me good as a snack or a meal replacement.  Rounding out the snack bars are Gnu Foods bars and Heart Thrive cakes.

Next, a plethora of spices.  We’ve got some red chili flakes, orange chipotle spice mix, and a spice mix for some yummy kidney beans.  Keeping up with the spicy, we move over to some jalapeno hummus from Wild Garden.  And if that isn’t spicy enough, there’s some “Ass Kickin’ Habanero” Popcorn.  Whoa.

And because Neil hails from Vermont, there’s local Vermont stuffing which I made for dinner the other night.  Mmmm.  And to round out the goodies, a bag of whole grain granola.  I love granola and I’m not a bit ashamed to say that it was the first thing to get opened and eaten.

It was a fun experience, going to the store to find things to send and getting a surprise package in the mail.  I would totally do it again, in fact I hope to do it again next year!  Did I mention that I sent a Vegan Care Package of my own to Neil?  I totally did.  Here’s what I sent*:

(*I sent everything pictured minus the Bob’s Oat Bar.  That was partially eaten by my cat because I mistakenly thought that they wouldn’t try to eat through PLASTIC, my mistake.  Sigh.  My cats are bad, cute to be sure, but bad!)
