Did Lady Gaga inspire cat mutilation?

It is appropriate to be critical of actions that send the wrong message.

What's in this post

Remember when Lady Gaga wore that meat dress? You know, the one where she said she wasn’t trying to be offensive to vegetarians and vegans because she’s the “most judgement-free human being on earth?” The one where she tried to convince us that, “if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights” means that to prove your not meat means you should wear meat.  No, I don’t get it  either.

This video represents everything that is wrong with the meat dress, and illustrates perfectly why it is appropriate to be critical of actions that send the wrong message.

A LOT of Lady Gaga’s imagery promotes violence. Ya sure it’s just artistic expression – but she is using this shocking imagery in a context of nonsense (as you so well state) most likely for attention…which can easily appeal to lost, crazy people.

I would be crushed beyond belief if one of my fans – however crazy they might be – did something this cruel.
In fact, as a goth artist I am very careful to NOT to have any of my darker imagery teeter on the fringes which maybe misconstrued to promote death or pain in any way.

People are announcing all over the web that Gaga is a vegan to boot – how very stupid. I hope that Gaga does take this opportunity as a cultural leader to review her message and temper her love for shock with responsibility.

It’s strange they use the word “dissected” in the video.
Because cats are dissected every day in the name of science and no one ever makes a fuss. Just goes to show you what a little crazy can do to change a situation.
