Chalk Art for Pigs

By Crystal Tremblay, Guest Contributor

Every week, Toronto Pig Save has a weekly vigil, using a Gandhian, art-filled, collective approach to bear witness of transport trucks carrying pigs and chickens to Toronto’s five slaughterhouses.  TPS holds these weekly vigils on Lake Shore and Strachan, which is less than a kilometer away from the brutal “Quality Meat Packers” pig slaughterhouses.  Those attending the vigils can witness first-hand the transport trucks crammed with baby pigs on their way to slaughter, looking out the portholes with pleading looks in their eyes.  By standing outside and bearing witness, they are also bringing awareness to those around them who may not know the horrible truth.  If you are in the area, you can RSVP to their vigils on Facebook.

If you aren’t in the Toronto area, you can also spread the word by sharing their new video.
