Ellen DeGeneres is known for being funny as much as for being philanthropic. She tries to promote veganism as often as she can on her show, and never shies away from questions on the topic. A few weeks ago, Ellen went above and beyond to give some additional horsepower to a vegan farmer.

In celebration of John Deere’s 50^th Anniversary, animal rights activist Melissa Karpel was given a John Deere lawn-cutting tractor on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Karpel, like DeGeneres, is vegan and also owns a 45-acre plot in Michigan where she plans on growing organic vegetables. In usual Ellen style, Karpel had no idea that when Ellen rode out on stage, on the tractor, that the gift was for her. In case you missed the episode, you can see it here:
