The concept of vegans being referred to as “pasty” can finally be put to rest as a newly opened tanning salon is offering vegan-friendly options, promising customers the same bronzed look that traditional salons offer without deadly UV-radiation or nasty chemical-laden sprays.

Using plant-based extracts and aloe, Island Mist Tanning, based out of Rexford, NY, offers services that are USDA-approved, organic, vegan-certified, and alcohol-free.  What would spark such an idea?  According to The Daily Gazette, owner Jennifer Near came up with the idea while pregnant with her second child.  Near wanted to tan but knew that traditional tanning options were not a good decision. Hence, Island Mist Tanning!  If you are in the area, Groupon is also offering a $35 deal for only $15 but there is limited time remaining.
