Would a Vitamix change my life? Is it worth taking a second mortgage or getting that second job to have one?

Would a Vitamix change my life? Is it worth taking a second mortgage or getting that second job to have one?

All of my friends who have one say, YES! It has changed their lives for the better and they would spend that $200 (Craig’s Listed) – $580 (newest deluxe model) all over again… but don’t they have to say that after shelling out the dough?

I have had some close encounters with buying a Vitamix, as well as some major Vitamix envy when I visit friends who have one, but have so far decided against the investment. According to my friends, here’s what I’m missing:

  • The creamiest/silkiest soups
  • A revolutionizing of my smoothies (you can stuff greens in them and never see any green pieces)
  • A machine that will crush ice and ask for more
  • Finely ground oat flour
  • Full-fiber, homemade almond milk!

That last point about the almond milk has me flipping my credit card over and over in my hand as I think: Maybe I will cancel my vacations for a year or two and go get the latest model? Maybe some kind soul has willed me one and I just need to wait patiently?

I got responsible and searched independent reviews for advice. ConsumerReports.org pretty much dares me to buy one, crowning all Vitamix models the royalty among blenders for power, durability, stability, and capacity.

Some people think it’s noisy, but for that kind of cash, I would want my neighbors to know I have it! My current blender, that cost me $100-ish, does alert my neighbors, wobbles, makes me strain my almond milk, and leaves chunks of greens and blueberry skins that get in my teeth, and that’s a good model for a non-Vitamix. Yet, I keep surviving one day to the next, with blueberry skins in my smile after I take my morning smoothie on the go.

My conclusion: I want one. I REALLY want one! But, I will need an excuse to push me into it. Will my kid need me to hide greens in his smoothies as he gets older? Will my current blender have a mysterious breakdown close to my next birthday? I am also considering getting a degree outside of the humanities to increase my earning potential. But, until any of these qualifying events, I will put this in my “someday” category, along with flying out to San Fran just to eat a dinner at Millennium and ordering ten of each item from Sweet and Sara.

Why not make payments through the Vitamix company? You can make payments on a refurbished unit with a full 7 year warranty. They are like new. I got one for me and one for mom this way! Yes, it absolutely did change my life. I have never eaten so much fresh raw produce in my life! That includes the contents of fresh aloe vera leaves in my smoothies. Home made vegetable broths. Fresh fruit creams( vegan ice cream ). I can’t say enough!

Look at buying one from QVC or HSN. They offer monthly payments without added costs.

Daria, the fresh, warm PB thing is a clincher! With all the feedback, I think I found some ways to justify it :)

If you’re looking to save a bit of money, check out the refurbished Vitamix models. They sell for about $150 less than new, and still come with a 5 year warranty. There’s also a free shipping discount here – http://blenderreviews.us – that will get you an extra $25 off.

Vitamix will also do a 3 payment plan if you give them a call so you can split it up into small payments over a few months.

    No more excuses now :)

I wanted a Vitamix for two years. On New Year’s Day, I went to Bed Bath & Beyond, where they honored one of those 20% off coupons they always send in the mail. Totally worth it, and totally changes your life (at least in the kitchen!) I have three words for you: Fresh. Peanut Butter. And it’s WARM when it’s ready.

If you want to buy one and pay it off, check out QVC. They constantly have them as “Today’s Special Values” available on Easy Pay. I am one of those geeks who watches the demos constantly, even now that I own one.

I want one so badly too. :) I heard that you can finance one over Amazon, so it can be bought and paid off in monthly installments!
