Greyhound racing ~ a dirty little secret

It is with great sadness that I'm writing this.  Today, my family lost one of our companion animals.  Jackson was a former racing greyhound that was surrendered to a rescue group.  My parents found him there and immediately fell head over heels in love with this 80 lb white greyhound.  The feeling was mutual.  Jackson loved my parents. Greyhound racing.  At the time that my parents decided to adopt former racers (they adopted two), I didn't know much about what kind of dogs they were.  I had no idea that greyhound racing was popular, or the conditions that the animals are forced to endure.  And to be honest, at that time, I didn't know much about rescue dogs at all. In Philadelphia this weekend?

What you need to know if you're eating vegan in LA…

Vegan Beware.  It's the headline that's been making it's way around the internet ever since QuarryGirl.com's "Operation Pancake".  Sounds more delicious than a vegan warning doesn't it?  But this time "Operation Pancake" is the undercover investigation into the vegan restaurants in LA.  Undercover vegans?  Hell yeah! So here's the deal.  Seventeen vegan restaurants were chosen and 21 dishes were procured from each.  Then the "samples" were sent to an independent testing facility to see if they contained any animal ingredients.  The results were stunning with the some of the food containing egg, shellfish or casein.  Not very vegan at all, is it?
