Pat, you had me at Poached Peaches

I can't wait to try out the Poached Peaches with lavender custard!

What's in this post

I’m pretty excited to get my hands on a copy of “The Vegan Cook’s Bible” by Pat Crocker.  So, I was pleased to find an interview with Pat about the book.  The interview questions are pretty bland and boring but the article redeemed itself by adding a few recipes to it.  I can’t wait to try out the Poached Peaches with lavender custard! In fact, I can’t wait to try them all!

Anyone get a copy of this book?  Made anything yet?  Tell us what you think!

You can check out the interview (with reicpes!) here.  Let me know how they turn out.

    Pat Crocker did indeed confirm on my blog that she mentions honey as a viable option for a substitute for white sugar in the book and defended it by saying that “vegans will be smart enough to choose the substitution for them”.

    She was also unapologetic about promoting the health benefits of fish in the book. For a supposed _Vegan Cook’s Bible_, it’s just not really vegan.

    It’s one thing for someone who is not even a vegetarian to write a book and present it as some sort of authoritative tome on vegan cooking, but by recommending honey and singing the praises of fish consumption in it, she’s thumbed her nose both at veganism as an ethical system, as well as at vegans themselves by trying to make a fast buck selling them something that’s misrepresented.

    I get the impression that Pat Crocker can be pretty rude, disrespecful and unprofessional. Check out her comment on this post http://my-face-is-on-fire.blogspot.com/2009/06/new-vegan-cookbook-just-not-really.html

    I am definitely not buying her book… there are way too many other amazing vegan cookbooks!

    Sounds like a fabulous recipe to try.

    However, apparently to refer to this cookbook as a ‘Vegan Bible’ is misleading – Pat Crocker does not understand what being vegan means as both fish and honey are mentioned to as sources of nutrition or ingredients. This book is unavailable in Australia so unfortunately I can’t check for myself. Please refer to;
