- Lord Stern says to give up meat for global warming reasons. It’s first in a series I like to call, “The comments make the article seem like a science fiction movie.”
- Another article on Lord Stern and why “Go green, go vegan” is all the rage. And by rage I mean, in the comment sections.
- And speaking of rage, this gem comes to us from an article so strangely titled, “Stop Eating Meat to Help Save Planet from Climate Change?” The highlights and bold are my own. The author says, “So, while these hypocritical millennial chicken-littles and their jet-setting globalist allies converge on Copenhagen to hash out solutions to the world’s most threatening imaginary problem, the rest of us should bundle up (high temperatures around the country are about 10 degrees below average this year), fry up a hamburger or pork chop, and rely on science to save us from the impending meltdown through the breeding of gasless hogs and cows. While they’re at it, perhaps they can develop a snore-less spouse, a cryless baby, dirtless dishes, and growless grass.” Yes, because not slaughtering non-humans is on par with trying to manufacture a cryless baby. Sigh.
- The Gazette has a new article titled, “Tasty food that happens to be vegan.” Here is an excerpt: “Amanda Lunan, owner of the newly opened vegan Auntie Loo’s Treats in Ottawa, says great-tasting food – not gastric ethic – comes first. “I make delicious food that happens to be vegan. … That’s my main thing,” Lunan says. “It can be really tricky to find things that are tasty and vegan.” Lunan, 29, enjoys sharing her love of good food. An uncle with high cholesterol and a penchant for sweets led Lunan to start veganizing recipes for him. “If you’re going to eat it anyway, why not improve it and make it a little better?” she says.” Yeah, it’s tricky to find good tasting vegan food alright. French fries are vegan and hardly sold anywhere. Which is, of course, not the point. I love the irony of talking about how you don’t care about the health of the food, just the taste of it only to turn around and say that you got started on it as a way to reduce cholesterol.
