Amy's Rice Crust Spinach Pizza is one of two vegan pies offered by Amy's Kitchen, and is the only vegan pie with cheeze- made from soy. The foundation of any good pizza is the crust. Without a good crust, the rest of the pizza has no hopes of making my taste buds dance with delight. Let's talk about this "rice crust."

Now, as a pizza lover, I give all vegan pies equal opportunity to satisfy me.  That includes the frozen versions.

The foundation of any good pizza is the crust.  Without a good crust, the rest of the pizza has no hopes of making my taste buds dance with delight.  Let’s talk about this “rice crust.”  I haven’t had a rice crust pizza that was any good.  This pie was no exception.

I find rice crusts to be too light and bland.  Now, it took me several tries to get this crust done, but not burnt.  To Amy’s credit, we are cautioned that the “delicate” rice crust could be burnt if care isn’t taken to begin checking it at the “beginning of the recommended cooking range.”

But, I did that, and still burnt my crust.  I tried baking it directly on the oven rack, and on a cookie sheet, per instructions.  Still burnt.  My oven usually does not have issues with such things, so it had to be this “delicate” crust that just cannot be baked.

This crust, I think, is too delicate.  It wasn’t until I baked it on the lowest temperature for only about 8 minutes, was it done enough to eat, but not too done to turn into a tough, burnt, crunchy disc.

So, I still have yet to find a rice crust that is decent.  I’m not really looking for a rice crust- I can handle my gluten, but I would assume, many others would enjoy a good tasting rice crust pizza.  Y’all let me know if you find one.Goatz Rating 1
