Your Daily Vegan's Featured Links Du Jour, what's on the menu this Wednesday?
In this article
- The Philadelphia Eagles have given $150,000 to animal welfare groups in response to backlash for hiring Michael Vick. Now, wouldn’t it be great to get them to strike hamburgers and hot dogs from the stadium menu? Yeah, I thought so too.
- The UN is left putting a bandage on a problem caused by the bad policies of governments around the world. And non-humans suffer in the process, naturally.
- So, what do you think about Paris Hilton’s latest addition to her “high society farm?” Is a pig just another “accessory” for her, or has she not decided to discriminate against “non-traditional” pets? I think non-human animals shouldn’t be sold as companion animals, period.
- The author of this article is remarkable. He says, “What you non-vegetarians (and I’m one of them) will find so pleasurable about reading this story is Foer’s honesty: He doesn’t pretend not to miss meat.” Veganism is about non-human animal lives, and a respect that these animals deserve to live, not whether or not I miss eating meat. Sometimes, human animals must sacrifice their desires for the good of others. In this case, it’s our non-human animals lives that are at stake.
- Fellow vegan coffee drinkers who like it creamy- and soy just won’t cut it for you- try Coconut Milk. It gives the coffee an “old-worldy” flavor. It’s much more rich than your typical soy, rice, almond varieties because of its high fat content. I prefer the type from the can- it’s thicker and creamier. And your feline friends would appreciate a few licks of it too.
