- Farmers in Canada want to cull (kill) wild elk to stop the spread of tuberculosis to their cattle. “The livelihood of the farmer is at stake.” This seems to be the only important element of this situation. The livelihood of the elk is not being considered, nor is it considered in the case of the cattle- who would not be so prone to the disease if they weren’t part of the livestock industrial complex. It’s, again, an endless cycle of death and disease affecting all animals, including the human kind. Bovine tuberculosis can be passed to humans. The farmer’s solution, to culling (killing) of species deemed as “interference” to their “livelihood,” always has the another cost involved- unforeseen circumstances.

- Spain trades one form of animal cruelty entertainment for another. “From Bullfighting To Rodeos: Culture Shock In Spain” Rodeo guy Mike Beers says, “You know, they’re used to seeing the bull. When they get done with him here, they drag him out on a sled. We rope the steer by the feet here. We get done with him, he jumps up and runs out of the arena. The crowd loves it.” I believe Mr. Beers is omitting some things- a lot of things.
- Rihanna poses in just a white fur coat, causing “is it real” comments to be posted rampantly on the article. Quick reminder folks, leather is animal hide too.
