Vegan Breastmilk Co-op

By Crystal Tremblay, Guest Contributor

Alicia Silverstone is back at it. No, she doesn’t have another cookbook coming out, and no, Clueless is not doing a re-make (that we know of). This time, is it for her Kind Mama Milk Share idea. A vegan mother recently emailed Silverstone letting her know that because of a recent breast reduction, she was unable to produce enough milk for her baby. The mother looked into donor milk but found it was impossible to tell what kind of lifestyle the donors were living, and after keeping herself vibrant and healthy, she wanted nothing more than the best for her baby.

Silverstone had heard of this struggle from other new vegan mamas and decided to reach out. She reached out on her site, The Kind Life, saying, “Because we are a community of beautiful souls who recognize the importance of food as health, I say we help support those mamas and babies who need a hand during one of the most important times in their lives. It’s why I’m starting the Kind Mama Milk Share, a way for moms to connect with other moms in their area.”
