Animal rights group cries foul over UW request to block public records access. “Animal research at the UW-Madison has long been a touchy subject — and one that some university officials certainly wish would disappear altogether. Now, activists are claiming the school is looking to limit access to public records as a way to cover up campus research using animals. UW officials have been trying to convince lawmakers to back legislation or insert language into the budget that would keep research hidden from the public until it is published or a patent application is filed. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel first reported on the issue Thursday.”
