I Can Cook Vegan
Author: Isa Chandra Moskowitz · Subject: Cookbooks
From Isa Chandra Moskowitz comes I Can Cook Vegan, a cookbook dedicated to her true love: the home cook.
Isa Moskowitz learned to cook from cookbooks, recipe by recipe. And after a few decades of writing her cookbooks, she knows what the people want: easy-to-follow instructions and accessible ingredients.
I Can Cook Vegan is for cooks of all stripes:
- The Just-Born, Brand New Cook
- The Tried-and-True Seasoned Cook Who Is Tofu-Curious
- The Busy Weeknight Pantry Cook (this is everyone)
- The Farmers’ Market Junkie Who Looks at All the Pretty Colors
- The Reluctant Parent to the Vegan Child
- For Anyone Doing Vegan for the Animals
- For Anyone Doing Vegan for the Health
The book grows with every chapter, teaching the building block to becoming a better, more competent cook. I Can Cook Vegan teaches readers to cook the way someone might learn a new instrument: master a couple of chords, and then start to put them together to form songs.
Each chapter starts with a new mission, and readers will cook their way through pasta, salads, sandwiches, bowls, sautés, sheet-pan suppers, and sweets—more than 125 recipes!—until they are ultimately the Best Cook Imaginable.
About the Author
Isa Chandra Moskowitz is the best-selling author of the hit books Isa Does It, Veganomicon, Vegan With a Vengeance, and many other titles. In 2014, she opened her first restaurant, Modern Love, in Omaha, Nebraska.
“I own a ton of vegan cookbooks, and most of Isa’s. This is a solid, accessible vegan cookbook. The recipes are interesting enough that you will find a few new favorites, but not so crazy/innovative that you will have to source a bunch of new ingredients (for that, I highly recommend the Wicked Healthy Cookbook).
As far as Isa’s books go, I think Isa Does It and the Superfun Times Vegan Holiday Cookbook are still my favorites, but this one does have plenty to offer!
- Beautiful pictures for each recipe
- Recipes that you know are going to work (clear instructions)
- Something to please every eater
- Isa’s voice, which is always honest and transparent
Several have commented on the design of the cookbook. I find it intriguing. It sort of reminds me of flipping through one of my grandmother’s cookbooks when I was younger. It’s different, yes, but a stylistic choice that I’m sure was intentionally made.
I think this book would be especially great for a new vegan. However, seasoned vegans will definitely find plenty to offer within these pages. I hope Isa keeps writing cookbooks forever.” – Sarah R., Amazon
